5 Home Remedies for Damaged Hair

Pollution, excessive styling, coloring, unhealthy diets, and harsh UV rays are some of the reasons behind rough and dull hair. Naturally, many women face problems like dandruff, thin hair, itchy scalp, frizzy hair, and lackluster hair. Here are 5 easy home remedies for your damaged hair:

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is ideal for treating damaged hair . It penetrates the hair shaft easily and prevents your cuticles from getting damaged.

Treatment methods:

  • Massage your scalp with coconut oil daily or 3 times a week. Leave the oil overnight and wash it with a gentle shampoo the next day.
  • Combine 3 tablespoons of warmed coconut oil with a 1/4 th cup of honey and apply on damp hair.

Leave in the mix for about 30 minutes and wash it off with lukewarm water.

Olive oil

Olive oil helps seal cuticles with moisture, to heal damaged hair . It contains vitamin E, fatty acids, and antioxidants.

Treatment methods:

  • Warm olive oil lightly and massage gently on hair shafts and scalp. Then wrap a warm towel around your head and leave it on overnight. Shampoo and condition your hair the next morning and do this home remedy at least once in a week.
  • Blend half cup honey with 1/4th cup olive oil and slightly warm this mix. Apply on hair and leave it on for half an hour.
Then rinse with warm water and shampoo your hair. Follow this remedy once or twice a week.

Eggs

Eggs are filled with minerals, healthy fatty acids and proteins, egg yolks can make your hair thick and shiny. The egg whites have enzymes which clean your scalp and hair.

Treatment methods:

  • Whisk one egg and massage gently on your scalp for a couple of minutes. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave it like this for about 20 minutes. Then, rinse off with cold water and shampoo. Follow this treatment every fortnight.
  • Every fortnight, blend a half cup of yogurt with 2 beaten eggs and add one and a half spoons of almond oil. Continue beating till you get a thick texture. Then massage your hair and scalp with this mix and keep your head covered with a towel for half an hour. Rinse it with cold water afterward and shampoo.

Bananas

Bananas have natural oils, vitamins, and potassium and reduce the brittleness of your hair.

Treatment methods:

  • Take one ripe banana and mash it well. Apply this evenly all over your hair and scalp. Leave it on for one hour and rinse with lukewarm water. Do this once a week.
  • Blend two very ripe bananas with a tablespoon each of olive oil, coconut oil, and honey. Apply the mix on your hair and leave it on for half an hour. Then wash your hair with slightly warm water. Do this on a weekly basis.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has humectants properties that can soothe damaged hair , and it also contains amino acids, vitamin E, vitamin C, and enzymes.

Treatment Methods:

  • Massage some Aloe Vera juice on your scalp and hair directly. Let it sit for about 15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. Do this once a week.
  • Combine 4 tablespoons Aloe Vera gel with 3 tablespoons yogurt and 2 tablespoons coconut oil. Apply on hair and leave it on for half an hour. Then wash your hair with a gentle shampoo. Do this weekly.
